Liudmila Kruzhkova is a talented artist, known both in Russia and abroad as a versatile cello soloist and ensemble player. She commands a unique artistic style, virtuoso technique, deep and expressive sound and genuine musicality. Her broad repertory includes cello pieces written by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, Schumann, Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Miaskovsky, Britten, Schnittke, Penderezky and other composers. During her musical career Liudmila Kruzhkova toured over Russia, Switzerland, Spain, Japan, Germany, Italy, Greece and many other countries. She also participated in many international festivals and won international competition.
Born in Moscow Liudmila displayed extraordinary abilities for music very early. At the age of 5 she was advised to enter the cello class of the Central Musical School attached to the Moscow Conservatory. Studying under the supervision of professors S. Kalianov, N Shakhovskaja,R. Davidian, A. Rudin she graduated from the Conservatory as one of the best students. She then decided to take a probation in the Musik Hochschule in Essen, Germany, under the supervision of professor C. Richter.
Liudmila started her concert career in Moscow Philharmony as a soloist and participant of chamber ensembles. She is often invited to play with prominent contemporary musicians – N. Shtarkman, V. Krainev, N. Petrov, M. Petukhov, Y. Bashmet, A. Brusilovsky, V. Cepinskis.
At present Liudmila Kruzhkova successfully combines her frequent performances and teaching in the world-famous Gnesins’ School of Music and gives master-classes abroad.
